Career Management
Programs:
Career Assessment: This six-session model is designed to help the
client identify and explore career options and provides structure
to his/her career development efforts. It is appropriate for the
individual undergoing a job loss or contemplating a career change,
and includes the following:
- Client history - An in-depth examination of the client's interests,
work and educational history, motivational qualities, and reasons
for the career change.
- Assessment - The individual completes carefully-selected career
interest and personality type deployment inventories. When administered
and interpreted by a trained professional, the results offer the
client valuable personal insights and strategies for managing
change.
- Feedback - Test summaries are communicated to the client in
a sensitive and honest fashion. As a result, the individual gains
a deeper understanding of his/her interests, needs, interpersonal
style and, most importantly, how these elements translate into
a satisfying career choice.
- Exploring and Implementing a Career Transition Plan - The individual
and career consultant research and discuss appropriate short-
and long-term career options that most closely fit the client's
interests and abilities. An individualized plan is formulated
and the consultant offers direction and strategies for successfully
implementing the plan.
Job Search Strategies: This four-session model is an appropriate
choice for the individual seeking professional job search guidance;
it does not include career exploration and testing. It provides
the following:
- Personal Marketing Plan - Training in job search methods (electronic
and traditional), establishing an effective job search tracking
system, developing and maintaining a network, and targeting potential
employers and career opportunities.
- Resume and Cover Letter Development - Review and revise current
resume, assist client in developing a summary of qualifications
and accomplishment statements. Develop effective cover letters
and follow-up correspondence.
- Interview Training - Coaching in effective interviewing skills,
handling difficult questions, presenting a polished and professional
image. Mock interviews are used to help the client prepare for
the actual interview.
