We have an interesting and challenging opportunity for an experienced Environmental & Safety Engineer. You will develop, implement, direct, monitor and coordinate ALL environmental compliance permits, programs, issues and results. You should have the technical background to ensure compliance in all areas, and the interpersonal skills to develop positive relationships with employees, regulators and the public.
The Environmental & Safety Engineer is responsible for:
- Obtaining permits.
- Implementing and overseeing environmental policies and procedures.
- Monitoring, documenting and reporting CEMS and other levels to ensure compliance with operating permits
- Investigating, negotiating and resolving non-compliance issues.
- Participation in facility and regional safety committee. This includes conducting, documenting and reporting plant health & safety inspections and acting as the plant emergency coordinator
- Training personnel and subcontractors in proper environmental, health and safety practices.
- Participate/leading the ISO 14000 certification effort
This position requires a well rounded Environmental professional with broad knowledge of applicable environmental regulations and strong interpersonal skills. Your background should include:
- BS environmental or chemical engineering, environmental sciences, chemistry or other related degree.
- A minimum of 2- 5 years of related experience.
- Working knowledge of all applicable federal, state, country, and local regulations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and problem resolution skills and the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with regulatory agencies.
- Great organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with or ability to learn the CEM Acquisition System.
- Experience with or interest in leading the ISO 14000 effort is a plus as is knowledge of waste water systems and English/Spanish language skills.
