Our client company acts as a technical resource and partner to manufacturers in the area of recycling and environmental management. This exciting green business has excellent potential for growth and innovation. A challenging opportunity exists for Production Manager at its Bronx, NY facility.
This plant, one of two Northeast locations run by our client company, is a relatively small operation. The business is poised for expansion and may afford advancement opportunities as performance demonstrates and business takes off.
Our Production Manager candidate understands that meeting customer demand in a service sensitive operation is a driving force in what gets done. The individual also knows and demonstrates a successful combination of leadership attributes, including resourcefulness and creativity in problem solving, bias toward action and personal commitment required to be successful in an entrepreneurial environment.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Production Manager has day to day responsibility for continuous operation of equipment, safety and productivity of its operators, maintenance mechanics and leads; management and efficiency of its warehousing, shipping and receiving, and logistics, including accountability for meticulous tracking of materials into and out of the entire facility.
This person is expected to make operational improvements in material and product flow, utilizing lean manufacturing principles and 6S processes to develop and hold the team accountable.
Specific responsibilities:
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, well-organized production leader who is adept at analyzing and solving mechanical problems. He/she understands accounting principles and is capable of providing input to and managing a budget and can read a P& L statement.
With exceptional attention to detail, he/she is able to organize people and processes around specific tasks; is also knowledgeable about basic human resources concepts and has experience in supervising others and in leading change in an industrial setting.
This person can effectively communicate with external customers and foster commitment to customer needs among his/her entire team.
