Youth Opportunities Upheld, Inc. (Y.O.U., Inc.) has been transforming the lives of troubled children, adolescents and families as a leading provider of therapeutic services in central Massachusetts since 1970. Today, Y.O.U., Inc. is one of the leading child welfare, behavioral health and education agencies in Massachusetts, offering more than 50 innovative programs at 32 distinct sites within five components: Family Support Networks, Education and Employment, Out of Home Care, Community Services, and Behavioral Health. Last year, Y.O.U., Inc. provided individual services to more than 23,000 children, adolescents and families.
Our growth and success over these years has been a direct result of the outstanding work of our staff of nearly six hundred full and part time professionals - including a leadership team with a combined 240 years of experience - partnered with our volunteer Board of 24 Directors. Over four decades, the organization’s leadership has worked tirelessly to set a clear vision and to follow a thoughtful strategic plan.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
We are seeking an exceptional executive who can inspire and lead a senior management team and over 600 dedicated professionals to carry on the mission and values of Y.O.U. Inc. as we move into our 41st year. The President and CEO is the steward of Y.O.U. Inc.’s mission and is responsible for the management and administration of all Y.O.U. Inc. policies and programs and a multi-million dollar budget.
The successful candidate will have at least ten years in senior management roles, leading a complex organization with multiple programs, products, locations and functions, and an employee population of over 150. This person must evidence solid strategic planning expertise with experience setting organizational direction, creating a vision, and planning and executing a mission, identifying new and emerging opportunities, and developing products or services and setting pricing.
Experience with behavioral health systems, child welfare or mental health organizations is essential, coupled with an advanced degree in social work, medicine, psychology, business, public health or a related field. We require someone with successful private fundraising experience and knowledge of how public funding sources work, coupled with experience influencing public policy, working with policy makers, building coalitions with community leaders, and demonstrated community leadership outside of employment. Experience empowering and working with a volunteer board of directors is expected.
We seek candidates with outstanding oral and written communication skills, including influencing skills, public speaking, presentation skills, and effective listening skills. A good sense of humor is a must, along with integrity that generates trust,
